BRADLEY KLAWUNDER
ABOUT ME
In my current situation, I have studied Petroleum Engineering as my major with a minor in Mathematics and Computer Science. I am currently searching for an engineering internship for summer 2019 in which I can contribute to a hard working company that can use my skills. I offer very developed and experienced computer programming skills, specifically in Excel VBA and AutoCAD. I also have skills with other programs within the A&M course studies that simulate important petroleum concepts, such as pressure-volume cells for a vast library of fluid types. I possess a strong interest for Linux+ and I currently practice in the Cyber Security Special Unit for Texas A&M University. In this special unit, I train with other programmers to hack into virtual machines with a variety of defense mechanisms. It is a year long training program that will end with earning a Linux+ professional certification.
At the beginning of my college career, I contracted into the United States Army on a four year course to commissioning as a Second Lieutenant. Although I contracted to serve after college for nine years, I plan to serve in the Army Reserves as an officer in the engineering branch. Therefore, I am fully available to work full time in the oil and gas industry after I receive my bachelor’s degree. I want to use the one weekend every month that I work with the military to bring skills I learn back to the company, such as ideas and training timelines from projects I am in outside of work. I have dedicated extra hours into the Corps of Cadets and the Army ROTC program to develop my skills in leadership, teamwork, and discipline. I have also dedicated extra hours into continuing my path as a personal math tutor, helping my subordinates in my unit with calculus problems, differential problems, or programming problems with Excel VBA through appointment.
Considering my history with programming in the Cyber Security unit, I have decided to switch into a Cyber Security minor as opposed to the Computer Science minor I originally intended for. This extra course load I am taking, along with the extra courses and time I invest into the military, means that I will be taking an extra three semesters of school. Therefore, I am considered a sophomore in the number of summers I will have available for internships (two summers), but I will be finished with all of my junior level classes.
I gained invaluable experience as a leader in the Corps of Cadets throughout the course of my college career. I am currently the First Platoon Leader and Scholastics Officer for Company B-1. As a platoon leader, I dedicate extra hours daily into developing cadets within my platoon to be successful. My three primary objectives for these cadets are to improve their personal fitness, academic success, and preparation to serve in the military. As a Scholastics Officer, I offer free tutoring to my subordinates for upcoming exams and homework assignments for classes within my engineering major. I plan various training events to meet these goals, such as test taking workshops and study planning tips.
I also closely work with the training chain of command in my unit to prepare my platoon for the physical fitness test taken every semester. Ever since high school, I have devoted to a strict weight training plan and running plan, which has helped my maximize my scores in physical fitness. I am currently on the Texas A&M Marathon Team for my second year and I am looking to compete in the Austin Marathon and improve my personal record.
Finally, I devoted my previous summer to advanced camp in Fort Knox, KY. Advanced camp is required training to commission into the Army as a Second Lieutenant. It provides thirty-one days of training in a field environment for young leaders to be evaluated in leadership roles in military missions. As a cadet in Army ROTC that has graduated from advanced camp, it is my responsibility to prepare the next set of young leaders to prepare for this training event. I have mentored and taught military tactics and leadership skills not only to my platoon within my unit, but to the entire junior class in Army ROTC.
I have developed in many strong ways during my time at Texas A&M. I am currently seeking an oil company to devote all of my time and effort into. I want to provide my best skills to you If you have any questions for me, I would love to communicate with you! You can contact me by phone at 979-450-5268 or via my e-mail at bradleyklaw@tamu.edu
